How The Word "No" Changed My Life

A few years ago I was a pleaser in every facet of my life. I wanted things to be harmonious, not because I was afraid of confrontation, but because that was easy and that was what was going to make everyone around me happier.

No shock here, I was miserable and angry with many people over the years for not using my own voice.

It was only in the summer before my junior year that I learned about the power of my voice and how harmonious situations could still be just that and I could assert my life based on the idea of living in a definitive thought process.

Yes or No

It's all quite simple if you only give yourself these two options to consider.

Do you want to make your new relationship work? Yes or No?

Would you like to apply go forward in the interview process for that job that seems a little of out of your reach? Yes or No?

Do you want to lose that weight you've been beating yourself up over for years? Yes or No?

Are you willing to do something different albeit drastic to change your life into something you want to wake up for every day? Yes or No?

I didn't like the way my life was heading a few years ago. No, it wasn't negative, but it didn't depict anything about the life I wanted for myself. I've learned sometimes a little growing pain is worth finding some happiness in the life that you create.

Do things on your own terms. At the end of your life, you're not going to the grave with anyone else to accommodate.

Live passionately,

Shani
